About Department

Introduction
The Department of Pharmacology came into existence in 2001. The courses provided by the department at present are under graduate courses. There are 5 international and 7 national publications from this department. Work on herbal remedies has been started and the set up for herbal unit is on the process. Pharmacovigilance centre has been set up and various studies related with it is being carried out like Pharmacovigilance in Herbal Drug and Pharmacovigilance in ART.

The department also owes full fladge Animal House as per CPCEA guidance where experiments are conducted without harming or killing the animals. Mentioning a few like the study of effect of sedatives on animals using rota rod, effect of ointments with only external applications, effect on miotic and mydriatic drugs on rabbit eyes etc which are demonstrated to the students. Also taking the advantage of the advancement of technology the lectures are conducted using LCD projectors in Power point presentation.

ACHIEVEMENT AND RESEARCH :
There are total of 5 international and 7 national publications from CIMS Pharmacology dept. Facutly are presently involved in a no. of research projects going on. These include research in Sickle Cell Therapy in C.G., Herbal Drug usage, Pharmacovigilance in C.G. etc. A set up for herbal unit is on the process. Pharmacovigilance centre has been set up and various studies related with it is being carried out like Pharmacovigilance in Herbal Drug and Pharmacovigilance in ART.

Off and On faculty members are invited for Guest Lecturers as Dr. Purnima Raj at “1st C.G. Physiotherapy conference” at Apollo College, Anjora, Durg. Faculties including students participate in various national and international conferences and seminars on various topics.

SYMPOSIUMS/SEMINAR :
Time to time various seminars and symposiums are conducted in the department for the knowledge enhancement of students. These include Interstaff seminars every Thursday on topics like Pharmacovigilance in Herbal drugs, PV in ART, Drug to gene Doping, significance of computational drug design etc.

Also seminars and quiz are conducted for the students every Wednesday and Friday on various recent pharmacological topics like pharmacogenomics, pharmacogenetics, pharmacoinformatics etc including general pharmacokinetics and pharmacodinamics.
