About Department :
A. Introduction :
Department of Pathology is situated in the first floor of Medical College Building, Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bilaspur (CIMS). Here along with academic activities of MBBS students, lot of different test facility are available for the patient diagnosis & care. Work field of Pathology department is very wide and includes sections such as Blood Bank & Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Pathology, Histopathology, Special Haematology and Cytology.

B. Facilities :
In the Department of Pathology, different test facilities are available in the following units.
Central Pathology Lab: In this unit which is situated in CIMS Hospital where 24 hours service for patient’s test and routine time 09:00 am to 02:00 pm blood sample receive of OPD patients and dispatch the report at 05:00 pm

Blood Bank
1. Introduction
Blood Bank is situated in Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Science (CIMS) Hospital Premises. It is established in 2007 to provide safe Blood to in-patients.

1. Free and without exchange Blood is provided on availability to thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, Cancer, R.T.A, Obs. Labour, burn and unknown patients.

1. About 1500-1600 units of Blood is provided every year free and without exchange to needy patients.
2. Best Blood Bank awarded in 2015 by State Government (NACO).
3. 203 units of Blood provided to Jan Swasthya Sahyog Kendra Sub Storage Center Ganiyari under Social Responsibility.

Features: Different test facility is available in the Department of Pathology. In the unit of Central Pathology Lab test facility available is 24x7 and test facility available in Histopathology, Cytology and Special Hematology sections all working days at 09:00 am to 04:00 pm except holiday.

Library Facility
Library facility is available in the Department of Pathology. Various types of Pathological books and journals are available in the department. Here are 220 books and 30 Indian and Foreign journals.

D. Achievement :
In the department year of 2016, 5th and 06th November 2016, National level conference ‘CAPCON 2016’ and year of 2018, 21st January 2018, National level conference ‘CME & Workshop on Gynaec Cytology’ was held. In these conferences various pathologists appeared of Chhattisgarh and other state.

E. Conference :
‘CAPCON 2016’ was held on 5th and 6th November 2016 ‘CME & Workshop on Gynaec Cytology’ was held on 21st January 2018.
