About Department :
Introduction :
The Department of Human Physiology was established in 2001. The department deals with basic functioning and normal metabolism of body. Dr. D.K. Sharma was the first Professor and Head . There after department had guidance of different learned professors.

Facilities Available in Department :

Department has four spacious laboratories i.e. Hematology Lab, Clinical Physiology Lab, Amphibian Lab (Digital) and Mammalian Lab along with one Lecture Hall, 2 Demonstration Room and Department Library cum Seminar Room. Each lab can accommodate 50 students at one time.

Experienced teachers guide the students through different aspects of physiology Departmental library is well equipped with different books. The space for PG research lab has been allotted and it has , ECG analysis , BMI analysis ,PFT analysis and Semen Analysis facilities.

The yoga research unit was established in December 2009 by Dr. A.M. Deshkar (In Charge Yoga Research Unit) and Dr. M. Rathore (Co-ordinator) are trained faculties in Yoga by MDNIY, Delhi. YRU co-ordinates the activities of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga under Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Department of Ayush. The unit conduct research in the field of Autonomic Nervous System, Neurophysiology, Psychological Studies, Psychiatric evaluation.

The Unit also have Music Therapy Section which evaluates the scientific aspect of effect of Music on health and well being. The Music Therapy runs a project in collaboration with Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The scientific paper from the Music Therapy section of Yoga Research Unit was accepted at International Conference on Medical Education.

The department is actively engaged in the basic and applied research in the field of Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Neurophysiology, Reproductive physiology, Sleep physiology and Medical Education.

Development of Linguistic Lab :
Department of Physiology developing a linguistic lab in association with Department of Medical Education, a FAIMER project in developing the linguistic skills in English , computer training to improve the communication skills amongst student are ongoing in Departement.

Department understands that college is situated in backward but fast developing state Chhattisgarh. Here students comes from remote area who have talent but because of language problem the talent of these students remain unexplored. Department takes special effort and conduct interactive sessions once in a week where students are encouraged for breaking language barrier and interact with teachers to solve their problems.

Department is planning to open a Integrated Health Clinic in coordination with different clinical departments where wellness clinic will be run to make society disease free. lifestyle modification to fight against obesity, Diabetes and Hypertension will be priority of IHC. Project regarding establishment of Sleep Physiology lab and study of disorders of sleep and associated areas are in pipeline
