About Department :
Introduction :
The Department of General Surgery at the CIMS, Bilaspur was established in July 2001. Since then eminent Surgeon has glorified this Dept. with their contribution in clinical innovation and research. Today Dept. stands good in arena patient care academic training and research activity. Presently the Dept. provides excellent patient care service and perform various sophisticated Surgical procedure.

Facilities Available in Department :
Department of Surgery has 120 indoor beds, 20 beds burn unit & 10 beds value Surgical ICU. At present dept. of Surgery the sactioned posts are teaching 01 Prof., 06 Assoc. Prof. 10 Asst. Prof., 9 S.R. & 18 J.R. Total indoor beds are distributed among 04 Male Sugical ward & 01 Female Surgical Ward.

A. Patient Care Services : The Dept. is dedicated from clinical services and training of Junior and Senior Resident. Surgery of the head & neck, hepato-billiary and pancreatic Surgery and vascular, Hernia and Endocrine Surgeries are routinely perform. Laparoscopic Surgery both basic and Advance is routinely done and Dept. has setup for training basic Laparoscopic Surgery with facility of An endotrainer Laboratory for hands on expertise in Basic Laparoscopic skills.

The Dept. of Surgery has 04 Operation Theater and Emergency O.T. or routine and emergency services. Surgery OPD consist of 06 examination room,01 Minor O.T. in minor cases , 01Endoscopy room for endoscopic Surgeries and Colnoscopy, 01 separate stone clinic equip with Lithotripsy. 01 Demonstration room, 01 dressing room.

B. Departmental Library : The surgery Department has its own departmental library in administrative block in the college building having more then 200 books & various national & international Journals with computer internet service.

The Dept. proudly announces the facility of sophistical Instrument like :
1. Harmonic Scalpel with open and laparoscopic probes.
2. Video esophagogastroduodenoscope, video colonoscope.
3. Portable ultra sound machine in the ward & operation theatre greatly Benefits various Surgery.
4. Two Laparoscopic Surgery set for performing basics & advance laparoscopic Surgery.
5. Image intensifier (C-arm).
6. DGHAL Set.
7. TURP Set.
8. Lithotripsy (Sonography Guided lithotripsy machine helps equipment of Renal and Pancreatic Stone)
9. Endo trainer laboratory to expertise in Basic Laparoscopic skills.
10. Each unit in Surgery ward is provided with Cash card, Central oxygen supply, Suction Machine, Multipara Monitor, Infusion pump, Nebulizer and Glucometer.
For clinical services department has full unit headed by 01 Professor , 01 Assoc. Professor & 08 Asst. Prof.

Research and Publication : There are 12 research papers are published in International index Journals by the faculties.

Conference :
Several teachers have received the best paper and best poster presentation award at many National and International conference many teachers invited for chaining the session, panel discussion, guest lecturers and live operation Surgeon. Further many members are as the various expert groups of various institutes. Various conference and workshop are conducted at the department regularly.

Symposium, Seminar and Academic Activity :
Regular seminars and tutorials are organized in the Dept. of surgery. The Undergraduate curriculum is replete with didactic lecturers, Bed side classes. The dept. is proud of an excellent collection of Surgical pathology, specimen, X-ray, ultrasound, C.T. scan and MRI films. The teaching aids like Digital multimedia and projection mortality audit by rotation. A CD/ DVD library is in the making which will consist of CD/ DVD collection of surgical procedure seminar, clinical surgery, Teaching Material. The Dept. has its own library having various recent books.
